Once the battle begins, order the mercenaries to charge headfirst into the enemy without support. The less noble way of going about things is grouping all the mercenaries together, then finding a sizeable roaming pack of foes. Doing so will result in them taking the mercenaries off your hands and successfully completing the Company of Trouble quest.

Once you've found a lord or lady, you need to talk to them and pass two speech checks. It's a good idea to save both at the start of the quest and before you enter the keep, in case you need to pay, to make sure you minimize your losses. Roaming nobles are also worth approaching. Start moving between settlements and castles and hope there are lords or ladies in the keeps. If you've played through Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord even a bit, you'll know that tracking down nobles can be a bit of a pain and having your resources drained while off on a potentially wild goose chase doesn't make things any better. The former involves finding a lord who actually wants to take the mercenaries off your hands.

(If anyone has an idea of how to get around this then feel free to share. There's a noble and less noble way of completing the Company of Trouble quest. I'm really enjoying the game, but trying to do this mission is driving me up a wall. So, I'd suggest adding some sort of map marker to at least give the player an idea of what part of the city the contender is actually in. I've left and reentered the city several times, walked through every area, and even tried talking to thugs to see if they had any info, but doing so causes the game to crash when I have all the intel, but not before. Since then I've collected all the intel and, well, I've spent nearly an hour wondering around every damn nook and cranny in Baltakhand trying to find another of these bastards. You're supposed to be able to find them near the alleys where thugs hang out, but I've literally only ever found one of these guys and I happened to challenge him to a duel without having all the intel so it flagged it as killing an innocent contender and failed the mission. The man problem really comes with the part where you're meant to confront the contender, it's damn near impossible to find these guys.

boring and tedious to say the least you it's fairly fast if you just spam the question to everyone you come across. For those of you who haven't gotten this yet basically a lord in a city with a tournament can give you a quest to figure out which of the contenders of the tournaments is a spy by going around and asking the townfolk.
